The Platform

Diversity

  • Interfaith Council with different religious groups.

  • Encourage administration to encourage employees to place chosen pronouns on name badges.

  • Require closed captions on all official George Mason Video and Interpreters at major events

  • Increase the expansion of Gender Neutral bathrooms

  • Work with Dining Services to ensure access to multicultural food option in dining halls 

  • Provide incentives for students who complete trainings given by SSAC, CCEE

  • Continue to push the work of the ARIE taskforce and implementation to make Mason more inclusive.

  • Create a Leadership Council

    • A meeting once a month with Student Government Leadership and RSO Leadership to hear their concerns and issues.

    • Establish a <listserve> with all RSOs that creates a direct line between Student Government and the student body.

  • Push for the University to officially recognize Indigenous People’s Day

  • Provide more storage for Religious organizations to store their items.

    • Work to increase the number of Prayer rooms on campus

  • Work on implementing a restorative justice framework at Mason

    • Where we move from punishing to finding reasons why?

Academics

  • Push for the availability of syllabi in all schools. So that students are aware of requirements before scheduling classes.

  • Promote the Student Career Achievement Network.

    • This initiative was created by Alexis Massenburg and hopes to pair Mason students with Mentor to assist them on their journey to success.

  • Work with Deans to create consistency with Professors

    • This includes making sure that blackboard is activated before class start dates and that final grades are posted in designated time.

  • Incorporate a language translation option syllabus (korean, Chinese , Spanish etc)

  • Improve the General scholarship application

  • Textbook Affordability

    • This would include creating options like renting books for a specified number of weeks as well as creating a Monthly payment system.

  • Advocate in uncapping credits. Moving from 15 credit back to 18 credits

    • We are aware the the toll of capping credits has created for members in our community. Double Majors as well as individuals with limited financial support have been hardest hit.

University Life

  • Greek Gives Back

    • Establish hands on service opportunities for members of the Greek Community allowing them to build relationships with the larger community

      • Helping Panhellenic find connections with RSO’s with similar initiatives 

 

  • Athletics

    • Expand the student section to allow additional students to attend games.

      • Keeping in mind social distancing and CDC guidelines

    • Work with athletics to come up with creative solutions to allow fans attend ALL athletic games. Virtually or in-person.

      • This could be through live streaming athletic events on GMUTV or virtual attendance through platforms like zoom

    • Include concession stands with bonus funds.

    • Homecoming parade

      • This is a great way to show Mason’s diverse community including but not limited to our International community, Multicultural Organization, Fraternity and Sorority life and more.

    • Continue increasing student deals 

 

  • Advocate for a Socially Distant Graduation Ceremony

    • Mason students who choose to will be able to have a socially distant graduation. This would be focused on CDC guidelines as well as creating time slots to make sure capacities are not maxed.

  • Work to protect title IX office from budget cuts and work in getting more support for the team.

  • Advocate for the equality of women on campus in Athletics and  Leadership

  • Work to provide free printing for RSO’s 

  • Work to address the issue of over policing on campus.

Services

  • Advocate for implementation of security cameras in dead zones.

  • Improve visibility on campus to  make the life of pedestrians safer. 

    • This will include but is not limited to reflecting roads,curbs and pedestrian crossing.

  • Promote Shuttle on Demand Service

    • Mason Parking services launch a pilot program where students can request to be picked up and dropped off at certain locations. This is an alternative to the shuttle routes and provides more direct roots.

  • Implement a plan to get Metro Cards for Mason Students .

    • This would be an opt-in option that would be included in you student activity fees

  • Create a platform to monitor Mason Shuttle Drivers to insure the safety of our patriots

  • Patriot Period Program

    • This program will provide free menstrual products to all Mason students.

  • Advocate for the partnership with CAPS and Mason PD in responding to incidents on campus.

  • Work with parking services to implement a day pass/week pass for students

    • As well as promote the complementary parking pass available.

  • Promote Parking Citation program 

    • Where students can take a quiz to have their parking ticket waived.

  • Provide Covid Kits for students 

    • This will including masks, hand sanitizers, wipes and thermometers

  • Advocate for the return of favorite restaurants on campus

  • Help CAPS promote counseling services in the Fairfax area

  • Work to  increase internship opportunities at Mason

  • Provide Free CPR/First Aid  training for students

  • Advocate for Mason to give reusable bags to students for Grab and Go

  • Require the provision of vehicles to take students who need to be isolated to the Globe.

  • Work with Dean of students and SSACC to provide supports to students during Covid.(In relation to classes)

  • Work on Expanding the Patriot Pantry to provide more services for students

    • Including more non perishable items as well as perishable items and dining vouchers.

Government and Community Relations

  • Push for Mason to acknowledge the struggles happening with its international community

  • Continue to build relationship with City of Fairfax

  • Promoting Voter Registration

  • Work to increase the housing limit of no more than 4 unrelated individuals are allowed to live in a house.

  • Work to provide more internship and Job opportunities for Mason Students.
